On the evening of July 21st, Trieste’s vibrant Piazza Perugino will host a unique musical spectacle as part of the city’s “Trieste Estate Fuoricentro” festival. Organized by the Municipality of Trieste, the event will feature a performance titled “From Trieste to New York, express line, with clarinet and fantastic stories,” presented by M.I.T.I.C.I. FVG (Mitteleuropa Clarinet Choir).

The Muggesana Association’s “Serenade Ensemble – Regional Academy of Wind Instruments” will introduce their latest creation: a clarinet orchestra accompanied by two actors performing two Maldobria pieces. This ensemble promises to transport the audience on an imaginary transatlantic journey from Trieste to the bustling streets of New York City.

Under the guidance of guest conductor Maestro Carlo Milanese, arriving from Portogruaro, the Mitteleuropa Clarinet Choir FVG will showcase a diverse group of woodwind talents. The ensemble, featuring approximately twenty musicians renowned in Pordenone, Bassa Friulana, Isontino, Trieste, Muggia, as well as Slovenian and Croatian Istria, will present a program blending homage to Vienna with mid-20th century New York vibes, including marches, blues, and swing classics.

“The clarinet, affectionately known as ‘clarin’ among musicians, holds historical significance in military bands and as a foundational instrument in blues and swing orchestras in the New World,” explained Andrea Sfetez, the event’s artistic director, emphasizing the instrument’s enduring influence across diverse musical traditions.

The event, supported by ANBIMA and local sponsors, will kick off at 7:00 PM, welcoming an array of attendees to Piazza Perugino. As twilight descends over the picturesque square, the clarinets’ enchanting melodies are poised to captivate audiences, promising an evening of cultural enrichment and musical celebration.
