This summer, the city of Trieste invites music enthusiasts to explore the imperial city’s rich heritage through a series of musical events set in the historic San Giusto Castle. Part of the “Trieste Estate 2024” festival, the program features performances of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Orff’s Carmina Burana by the Orchestra and Choir of the Giuseppe Verdi Opera House Foundation of Trieste, alongside the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Choir.

Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony

On Thursday, July 18, at 9:15 PM, San Giusto Castle’s Courtyard of the Militia will host a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in D minor, conducted by Alessandro D’Agostini. Known for its significance in both classical music and popular culture, the symphony will be performed by a full choir and orchestra, promising a memorable evening. Tickets are available for 11 to 30 euros.

Orff’s Carmina Burana

Continuing the festival, on Sunday, July 21, at 9:15 PM, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana will be presented. This 20th-century composition, inspired by medieval poetry, has long captivated audiences. Under the direction of Giuseppe Grazioli, the performance will feature the Verdi Theatre choir and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Choir, with over 80 voices combined. Tickets for this event also range from 11 to 30 euros.
