This Saturday, July 20th, the much-anticipated “Fool Moon Regatta” returns to the scenic waters of Barcola and Grignano, promising an enchanting evening of sailing under the moonlight. Organized by the prestigious Sailing Society of Barcola and Grignano (SVBG), this year’s regatta has already set a record with 60 participants.

The warning signal is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., followed by live music at 9:00 p.m., and culminating in an awards ceremony and the traditional pasta party at 11:00 p.m. at the SVBG headquarters.

The day’s festivities, however, extend far beyond the evening regatta. From the early morning, a series of engaging sports activities will be open to all SVBG members, both on land and in the water.

At 10:00 a.m., the “Waterpolo Beach Party Trieste” returns for its second edition, organized by Waterpolo Project ASD. This year, the tournament is notable for its enhanced inclusivity, made possible through collaboration with the Monticolo&Foti Foundation. The expanded activities now welcome athletes with disabilities, fostering a spirit of community and support. Among the participants will be athletes from the Calicanto association, an organization dedicated to promoting sports among young people, especially those facing physical, mental, behavioral, or social challenges. The tournament will feature 14 teams from Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia, including elite athletes such as members of the Settebello (the Italian national water polo team), players from Italy’s A1 series, and the Slovenian and Dutch first divisions, two world master champions, a former head coach, and a women’s team.

The afternoon promises further excitement with the Fool Moon Games commencing at 2:00 p.m. These games will include water polo, basketball, soccer matches, and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) races, all open to members with free registration. A DJ set and various prizes will enhance the festive atmosphere, embodying the inclusive and celebratory spirit of SVBG.

The Fool Moon Regatta and its accompanying events are made possible through the support of Consorzio Prosecco Doc, RP Several, Tam Immobiliare, Cassa Rurale FVG, and Utilgraph.
