From July 23 to July 25, the historic city of Trieste will experience a series of temporary traffic restrictions to accommodate the filming of the highly anticipated Amazon Prime series “Memento Mori 2.” The municipal government has issued Ordinance No. 746-24, outlining detailed measures to manage vehicular and pedestrian flow during the production.
A Spanish Invasion in Trieste:
The bustling streets of Trieste will transform into a cinematic backdrop as the Spanish series takes over key locations. The following traffic measures have been meticulously planned to ensure both the seamless execution of the shoot and minimal disruption to the city’s daily life:
- Via Roma Restrictions: On Tuesday, July 23, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be prohibited along Via Roma, between Via Valdirivo and Via Mazzini. This restriction may be extended if adverse weather conditions or unforeseen events occur.
- Public Transport Exceptions: An exception to the Via Roma ban will be in place on the same day from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, allowing public transport vehicles operated by TPLFVG Scarl to continue their routes. These vehicles will be permitted to transit and stop in designated areas under a “stop and go” system, managed by local authorities, with a maximum stoppage of 5 minutes.
- Parking Lot Access: Another exception will be granted to users of rotating parking spaces along Via Roma, Via Di Torre Bianca, and Via Nicolò Machiavelli. From 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, these areas will operate under the same “stop and go” system to facilitate brief vehicle access.
- Historic Center Closures: On Wednesday, July 24, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, traffic along Via Di Donota, Piazza Di Donota, Via Del Seminario, and Via Delle Monache will be intermittently halted for up to 5 minutes. Similar measures will affect Via Degli Artisti.
- Extended Evening Ban: Later on Wednesday, from 2:00 PM to midnight, traffic will be barred along Salita Dei Montanelli, Via Dei Capuano, and Via Giacomo Ciamician.
- Early Morning Blockade: Thursday, July 25, will see an early morning restriction from midnight to 3:00 PM along Via Della Muda Vecchia, Piazza Piccola, Largo Dei Granatieri, and Via Malcanton.
- Evening Interruption: That same day, from 8:00 PM to midnight, Via Cesare Battisti will experience temporary closures in front of building No. 18, between Via Guido Zanetti and Via Gaetano Donizetti.
Emergency Exceptions:
Exceptions to these restrictions include emergency service vehicles, law enforcement, and authorized production vehicles and personnel. Unauthorized vehicles parked in affected areas will be removed by authorities.
Navigating the City:
Residents and visitors are advised to plan their routes accordingly and heed the directions of traffic controllers and local police to ensure smooth transit through the city during these periods.
