A special summer concert will take place on July 28, 2024, promising to be a poignant tribute to the late conductor and composer Ezio Bosso. The event, titled “The Music Whispers and Reveals Life to Us,” will unfold in Piazza Verdi at 9:00 PM, offering a blend of music, dance, and poetry.
Ezio Bosso, whose influence on the world of classical music was profound despite his brief career, is remembered fondly by the local community and beyond. The concert, organized by the Verdi Orchestra and led by principal trombonist Domenico Lazzaroni, seeks to celebrate Bosso’s legacy through a carefully curated program that juxtaposes his compositions with the poetry of Emily Dickinson, one of his favorite poets.
The evening will feature an impressive lineup of performers including Giulia Diomede, a distinguished actress and mezzo-soprano; Anna Somma, a noted dancer; and accomplished musicians Daniele Bonini on piano, Giuseppe Carbone on violin, Danilo Sisto on double bass, Chiara Bosco on horn, and Domenico Lazzaroni on trombone. The performance will also include Dorian Dionisi, a collaborator with the theater, who will contribute to the event with a special performance.
The program for the evening is a rich tapestry of Bosso’s works, alternating with Dickinson’s evocative poetry. Highlights include pieces such as “Rain” and “Following a Bird,” interspersed with Dickinson’s reflections on life and love. The event will also present Bosso’s lesser-known compositions alongside Dickinson’s poems, offering a unique insight into the intersection of Bosso’s musical imagination and Dickinson’s literary genius.
This concert is part of Trieste’s broader initiative to honor Bosso’s memory as the city approaches the five-year anniversary of his passing in 2025. The event underscores the deep impact Bosso had on the local cultural scene, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to resonate with audiences. Lazzaroni, who was a close collaborator with Bosso and a key figure in the Italian music scene, has played a crucial role in ensuring that Bosso’s contributions are celebrated and remembered.
The program will also include a selection of Bosso’s pieces such as “Solitudes” and “Thunders and Lightnings,” along with Dickinson’s poems like “A dignity awaits us all” and “There is another sky.” The concert will offer a reflective and emotional experience, capturing the essence of Bosso’s artistic vision and his connection to Dickinson’s poignant words.
As Trieste prepares for this special event, it reflects a broader movement to preserve and celebrate the cultural and artistic contributions of its residents. The concert, which will be held at the open and free venue of Piazza Verdi, offers a rare opportunity to experience the fusion of music and poetry in an evocative setting.
