In a vibrant celebration of local culture and community, the third edition of “Servola Under the Stars” was officially announced at a press conference held in the Sala Bazlen of Palazzo Gopcevich. The much-anticipated event is set to illuminate the Servola district on Saturday, August 3.
Serena Tonel, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Economic Policies, joined by Elena Pellaschiar, Vice President of Confcommercio Trieste, and Roberta Millini, representing the local merchants of Servola, highlighted the significance of the event. The gathering also saw the participation of various organizations, including Ures – Unione regionale economica slovena, the Trieste-based Amici del Presepio Aps, and several cultural and artistic groups such as the Slovene Cultural Circle “Ivan Grbec” and the Magazzino Commerciale band.
The Municipality of Trieste has pledged its support for “Servola Under the Stars” as part of its broader efforts to boost local commerce and enhance regional marketing. The event promises to invigorate the Servola district with a range of activities designed to appeal to all ages. These include live music performances, museum tours featuring local history and traditions, street entertainment, a local crafts market, and culinary delights.
Cultural Revival in Servola
Deputy Mayor Serena Tonel expressed enthusiasm for the event, noting its role in recognizing the dynamic changes within Servola. “The Municipality’s support for this event acknowledges a district in the midst of significant renewal,” she said. “Following the pandemic, Servola has seen a higher rate of new business openings compared to other neighborhoods. It is crucial to encourage this trend and celebrate Servola’s traditions, including its unique museums and cultural heritage. Such initiatives thrive in communities with a strong sense of identity, which we are committed to preserving.”
Confcommercio Trieste’s Elena Pellaschiar echoed these sentiments, praising Servola as a model for neighborhood revitalization. “Servola demonstrates how a district, through the dedication of its economic operators, can rejuvenate and regain its prominence as a commercial hub,” Pellaschiar said. “Supporting ‘Servola Under the Stars’ aligns with Confcommercio’s mission to enhance local businesses through events like Christmas in the Window and the Historic Venues project.”
