Despite many Trieste residents swapping the city for the beach or mountains, there are still plenty of events happening in the Friuli Venezia Giulia capital during August. For those of you not hitting another region’s beaches or heading to the hills, there are events galore and things to do in Trieste this August, from concerts to wine tastings.
1 Aug. Get your friendship grove on and join the multicultural community ‘Expats in Trieste’ for a weekly aperitivo at Bar Tergesteo. Free entrance, all welcome.
2 Aug. Wine tasting by the sea? Yes, please. Join the “Malvasia al Porto” event tonight starting 6.30 pm in Muggia and cheers your night away.

3 Aug. Brighten up your weekend with an evening out in osmiza. For open osmizas this season visit their website.
4 Aug. The Miramare Castle is open for free as part of the monthly ‘Domenica al Museo’ initiative this Sunday. Go out there and explore!
5. Aug. This Monday night don’t forget to book a table in one of the perfect for watching the sun go down bars in Trieste.
6 Aug. Too hot? Cool off by the waterfall in Val Rosandra.
7 Aug. You haven’t done Trieste summer right if you haven’t taken a dip in the very famous beach Pedocin at least once this August.

8 Aug. Take part in the annual summer carnival in Muggia, which kicks off today (more here).
9 Aug. Make this Friday night special by tasting sparking wine under the stars in Sistiana as part of the annual ‘Calici di Stelle’ event from 7.30 pm on at the Infopoint Promoturismo FVG Sistiana – Sistiana, 6.
10 Aug. Tonight’s the night of the shooting stars know as la Notte di San Lorenzo. Look up and make that wish!
11 Aug. Trieste will wake up to the enrapturing piano tunes during the annual concert at dawn event. Put your alarm on at 4 am and head to Molo Audace for the amazing experience of listening to piano tunes at dawn (around 4.50 am).
12 Aug. For an alternative outdoor fun, discover the Ciclovia Alpe Adria that connects Grado to Salzburg.
13 Aug. Spend the day with your dog at Fido Lido in Muggia.
14 Aug. Have a sunset drink with friends at beach-side bar Barachin de Barcola.

15 Aug. Italian summer holidays, called Ferragosto, kick off today. Have a lake day and head to Lago di Fusine.
16 Aug. Escape the city and hop on Adriatica boat to the beautiful island of Grado.

17 Aug. Book a night in Lignano Sabbiadoro and combine two beach days with dinner in the old town.
18 Aug. Take a day trip to Monte Lussari and enjoy some cool mountain air.
19 Aug. Spend the day by the outdoor pool of Piscina Bianchi. No reservations required.
20 Aug. Grab a bargain at the antique market Mercato dei Tritoni in Piazza V Veneto (open 8 am- 8 pm)
21 Aug. Wander through the collection of ancient sculptures at Museo Winckelmann.
22 Aug. A beautiful walk under the stars? Look no further than the Castello Miramare.
23 Aug. Enjoy a Neapolitan pizza at Eataly with an amazing view of Sacchetta.
24 Aug. Admire the ancient art in the splendid halls of Museo Revoltella.

25 Aug. If you’re looking for adventure, try the Europe’s longest zip line ‘Flying in the Sky’ in Sauris.
26 Aug. For a cultural trip out of town, visit Udine and its Municipal Museums.
27 Aug. For a sweet treat visit the newly opened Pagna in via Muratti 4/D and get their delicious pain au chocolat. Yum!

28 Aug. Visit the magnificent Lago di Cavazzo, just an hour and a half from Trieste and the spend the day boating.
29 Aug. Rent a canoe at Sistiana Beach Caravella and take in the scenic views surrounding the beaches.

30 Aug. Make a day trip to the breathtaking town of Cividale del Friuli, stopping for wine tasting at Bastianich Wines.
31 Aug. Enjoy the Blue Flag beach of Grado.
