Motorists in Muggia should brace for significant traffic disruptions on Monday, August 5, due to scheduled cleaning work on the north side of the Muggia centro tunnel. The changes, which will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., are aimed at facilitating the maintenance while ensuring safety and efficient traffic flow.

Key Changes to Expect:

  • Tunnel Closure: The Muggia centro tunnel will be closed to all vehicles except those involved in the cleaning operations. Drivers should anticipate a complete closure of this critical route for the duration of the work.
  • Revised Traffic Flow in Mandracchio: In a notable shift, the direction of travel in Mandracchio will be reversed. Vehicles approaching from Lungomare Venezia or exiting the parking areas on via Garibaldi/L.go Nazario Sauro will need to follow a new route through Mandracchio, moving in the sequence of via Garibaldi, L.go Nazario Sauro, Riva De Amicis, via Manzoni, and via Battisti.
  • Mandatory Routes: Vehicles heading towards Lungomare Venezia are required to use Salita delle Mura. This will help manage the redirected traffic and avoid congestion in other areas.
  • Height Restrictions: Vehicles exceeding 3.40 meters in height will face restrictions. Those coming from Lungomare Venezia towards Mandracchio and those coming from via Roma towards Salita delle Mura will not be permitted to pass.
  • Public Transit Adjustments: Local Public Transport buses will be rerouted through Mandracchio, where a one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. This change will be monitored and managed by the Local Police to ensure smooth operation and safety.

Drivers are advised to plan their routes in advance and allow extra travel time to accommodate these changes. The maintenance work is essential for the upkeep of the tunnel and is expected to enhance safety and functionality in the long term.
