In a bid to elevate its maritime heritage, two of Trieste’s premier sailing clubs, Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano (SVBG) and Yacht Club Adriaco (YCA), are collaborating on a series of high-profile sailing events this October.

The joint initiative will spotlight classic yachts in the 27th Raduno Città di Trieste and the Barcolana Classic – SIAD Trophy. This year, sailors will have the convenience of registering for both events, along with the option to compete in the Autumn Cup, with a streamlined single registration process opening August 15.

The Raduno Città di Trieste, a staple in the city’s maritime calendar, will take place from October 4 to 6, showcasing wooden and metal boats crafted before 1975. Following this, the Barcolana Classic – SIAD Trophy on October 12 will feature a diverse fleet, including large ocean-going yachts and classic designs by Carlo Sciarrelli. The events will culminate in a parade and regatta, with awards concluding the festivities.

This collaboration aims to reinforce Trieste’s status as a central hub for classic sailing in the Adriatic. Nicolò de Manzini, President of YCA, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “Our goal is to make Trieste and its Gulf a key destination for all sailing enthusiasts.”

Mitja Gialuz, President of SVBG, added, “This renewed collaboration with YCA is a major step toward enhancing Trieste’s reputation in classic yacht racing. The combined efforts will not only improve event offerings but also foster greater participation and celebrate our rich sailing tradition.”
