A large vegetation fire that ignited earlier today in the region between the Locovaz canal and Monfalcone was brought under control by 7:40 PM local time. The firefighting effort, which commenced at 11:50 AM, mobilized a substantial response from multiple agencies.

Approximately twenty firefighters from the Gorizia and Trieste commands, along with personnel from the Regional Forestry Corps and Civil Protection AIB volunteers, worked tirelessly to contain the blaze. The operation also saw the deployment of a regionally contracted helicopter and the involvement of law enforcement agencies.

The fire prompted a closure of the SS 14 highway, affecting traffic between San Giovanni di Duino and the Lisert interchange throughout the day. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
