The Mascherini Garden in Piazza Carlo Alberto has reopened following a significant renovation, which included replacing the old pergola with a modern Corten steel structure.

The project, overseen by Michele Babuder, the city’s Councilor for Territorial Policies, included replacing the garden’s old pergola with a modern Corten steel structure. Babuder, along with city councilors Monica Canciani and Alberto Polacco, attended the reopening ceremony.

The previous brick and wood pergola was removed due to damage from old climbing plants and compliance with updated seismic regulations. The new Corten steel structure was selected for its durability and sustainability. The garden’s original stone paving has been retained.

Maintenance work also addressed the garden’s pathways and staircases. The total investment for the renovation was approximately 200,000 euros. The design, by engineer Parovel and architect Zlatich, includes provisions for new climbing plants, which are scheduled for planting in the fall.

The project received approval from the City Council and relevant oversight bodies. Minor delays were encountered due to weather and material sourcing, but the renovation has generally proceeded according to plan. Additional plantings and finishing touches are expected to be completed by early autumn.
