This summer, the Casa del Cinema in Trieste is transforming the city’s historic Giardino del Cinema into a vibrant outdoor film venue, presenting a diverse and compelling lineup that spans international blockbusters, auteur cinema, and animated gems. From August 12 to August 26, film enthusiasts will be treated to a mix of major hits, critically acclaimed titles, and family-friendly fare.
On August 13, Tuesday evening, Richard Linklater’s “Hit Man – Accidental Killer” will hit the screen. This offbeat comedy follows a psychology professor who becomes an unlikely assassin to aid New Orleans police, blending humor with suspense in a story based on true events.
August 14 will showcase Matteo Garrone’s “Io Capitano”, a poignant drama that chronicles the perilous journey of two young Senegalese men traveling from Dakar to Europe. Winner of the Silver Lion at Venice and Italy’s Oscar nominee, the film provides a gripping narrative on migration and hope.
Family audiences will delight in “Inside Out 2”, scheduled for August 15. Disney-Pixar’s latest animated adventure returns to the imaginative world of emotions, exploring the challenges of adolescence with humor and heart.
The festival continues with “Perfect Days” on August 16, a contemplative work by Wim Wenders. This film, featuring a performance by Koji Yakusho that earned him the Best Actor award at Cannes, offers a meditative look at a Tokyo toilet cleaner’s search for beauty in everyday life.
Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune – Part Two”, arriving on August 17, promises to deliver another epic chapter in the saga of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi masterpiece. Following the critical success of the first installment, this sequel continues the saga of Paul Atreides.
On August 18, Michael Mann’s “Ferrari” will provide a thrilling glimpse into the life of Enzo Ferrari during a critical period in 1957. Starring Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz, the film portrays the pressures and triumphs of the iconic automaker.
