A wildfire broke out on Wednesday in Italy’s Karst region, rapidly spreading between the Rocca of Monfalcone and the Redipuglia Memorial, threatening homes and causing significant environmental damage. The blaze, which originated from an aqueduct construction site, has scorched over 2.1 hectares of vegetation.
Firefighters, aided by civil protection teams, regional forestry personnel, and a helicopter, managed to contain the fire within hours. Several homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution, including one that came within meters of the flames.
No casualties were reported, but the situation remains tense as authorities continue to monitor and secure the affected areas.
