On Saturday, September 7, the historic Castle of San Giusto will transform into a hub for gin enthusiasts as it hosts “Gin Gin,” an exclusive tasting event spotlighting artisanal gins from 18 local producers. This event is part of the larger “Il San Giusto del Gusto” initiative, a project designed to fuse Trieste’s rich cultural heritage with its burgeoning local food and drink scene.
Gin, known for its diverse range of flavors derived from various botanicals, will be the star of the show. While EU regulations require a predominant juniper flavor, the spirit’s versatility allows for a broad spectrum of profiles, making it a favorite in mixed drinks. The event will feature gins crafted by 18 regional distilleries, each offering a unique take on the classic spirit. The castle’s picturesque setting promises to enhance the tasting experience, providing both a cultural and aesthetic backdrop.
In addition to sampling gin, attendees will enjoy a selection of local culinary delights, further highlighting the region’s artisanal food scene. The tasting will be held in the Bottega del Vino, where visitors can explore a variety of gin expressions while enjoying panoramic views of Trieste.
The “Gin Gin” event is the second in the “Il San Giusto del Gusto” series. The first event, “AmberWine,” showcased regional amber wines and was well-received. Upcoming events include “Birrart,” which will explore local craft beers, and “Bolle naturali,” focusing on sparkling wines produced using traditional methods.
Tickets for the event are priced at €25, granting participants not only access to the gin tasting but also free entry to San Giusto Castle during its regular visiting hours. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., providing ample time for guests to savor the diverse offerings.
