Miela Theater’s 2024-2025 Season: A Bold Fusion of Tradition and Innovation

The Miela Theater is set to captivate audiences with an ambitious and eclectic lineup for its 2024-2025 season, promising a vibrant mix of innovation and tradition. From renowned performers to emerging talents, this year’s offerings reflect a commitment to artistic diversity and cultural engagement.

President Enzo D’Antona described the upcoming season as “marked by innovation while fully respecting the DNA and tradition of Miela.” He emphasized that the theater’s mission is to continuously evolve and expand its offerings. “Change, experimentation, and the search for new forms of language are core to our identity and that of the Bonawentura cooperative,” D’Antona said. “Our goal is to entertain, provoke thought, and offer a unique perspective on the world we live in.”

The season features a diverse array of performances, including regional exclusives, world premieres, and national debuts. Highlights include a new show by the acclaimed comedian Enrico Bertolino, which will tour eight venues in the regional theater circuit ERT before concluding the Miela season with a special performance. The theater will also present the Italian premiere of a play by English author Penelope Skinner, produced in collaboration with Gorizia’s a.ArtistiAssociati.

Artistic Director Massimo Navone has curated a season that spans various genres and formats. “Our program moves between new writings and reinterpretations of the classics, creating surprising expressive intersections,” Navone said. “We aim to offer an experience where different artistic perspectives meet, fostering interactions between artists and audiences of all generations.”

The season will feature a range of initiatives, including:

  • L’Arte Ac/cade a Teatro: A fusion of performance and contemporary visual art.
  • MielaDanza: A new focus on contemporary dance, spotlighting young choreographers.
  • Incroci Teatrali: A broad array of theatrical genres and talents, including regional newcomers.
  • Pequod: A series exploring current affairs, journalism, and literature.
  • S/paesati: A showcase of contemporary theater.
  • Miela Music Live: A series of concerts.
  • Stand-Up Comedy and Clowning: Featuring popular and emerging comedic acts.
  • Protagoniste: A spring series celebrating female artists.
  • Satierose: An homage to the artistic legacy of Montmartre.
  • Miela Bimbi: Children’s programming for young audiences.
  • Note in Caffè: A collaboration with Alessio Colautti.
  • Chamber Music: A refined music series by Fedra Florit.
  • Wunderkammer: An early music festival curated by Paola Erdas.

Following the success of its Summer School, Miela will continue to offer workshops led by guest artists, providing opportunities for creative development in writing, acting, and physical expression.

Managing Director Francesco De Luca highlighted the theater’s role as a cultural hub. “With over 180 days of performances and a variety of hosted events, Miela remains a crucial point of reference for the region’s artistic and cultural scene,” he said.
