The University of Trieste is experiencing a notable increase in applications for its healthcare degree programs. This year, 739 candidates have registered to take the entrance exam scheduled for Thursday, September 5. The number of applicants marks a 26% increase compared to 2023, reflecting a growing interest in healthcare education.

The university is offering 500 spots across ten different healthcare programs, including the newly introduced Dietetics course at its renovated Pordenone campus. Several programs have expanded their capacity this year, such as Nursing, which now offers 200 spots, an increase of 20 from last year, and Physiotherapy, which has grown to 40 spots, up by 10.

The rise in applications extends beyond the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, with a 48% increase in candidates from outside the region compared to 2023. These non-local applicants now make up 22% of the total pool. Additionally, 61 foreign citizens are among the candidates, with 51 already residing in Italy and holding Italian high school diplomas.

The admission test, required for all programs, will consist of 60 multiple-choice questions covering biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and logical reasoning. Candidates will have 100 minutes to complete the test, with results expected to be published within 15 days on the university’s official website.

The University of Trieste’s healthcare programs are noted for strong employment outcomes. According to data from Almalaurea, 93% of healthcare graduates find employment or continue their education within a year of completing their degree. The unemployment rate among these graduates is low, at 1.7%, and most enter the job market within two months of graduation.

This year, 73% of applicants are female, continuing a trend of strong female representation in healthcare fields.
