Matteo Parenzan, a promising young table tennis player from Trieste has secured the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, marking a historic moment for both the athlete and his city. The triumph was celebrated by local officials and citizens alike, highlighting the profound impact of Parenzan’s achievement on the global stage.

In a commanding performance, Parenzan defeated Thailand’s Rungroj Thainiyom, the 37-year-old world No. 3, with a decisive 3-0 victory. The match, held at the prestigious Paralympic Games, showcased Parenzan’s exceptional skill and unwavering determination. Thainiyom had previously bested Parenzan in the final of the 2022 World Championships in Granada, making this win a significant redemption for the young athlete.
