The countdown to one of the Mediterranean’s most celebrated sailing regattas, the Barcolana, began this morning with a press conference at the Museum of Oriental Art, unveiling a series of cultural events to complement the 56th edition of the iconic race.
The 56th edition of the Barcolana Regatta in Trieste will feature a month-long cultural program, running from September 14 to October 13, culminating in the world-famous sailing race. Highlights include:
- Opening Concert by Italian rock band Subsonica on October 4 (free admission).
- Barcolana: A Sea of Stories literary festival from October 9 to 12, featuring 22 authors including André Aciman.
- Federico Lenardon Exhibition from October 5 to 13, showcasing the work of the master shipwright.
- Tribute to Giacomo Puccini on October 7 at the Revoltella Museum, celebrating the composer with readings and opera.
- A theatrical production titled Trieste is the Sea on October 10, blending local maritime history with performance art.
The cultural events, organized with local support, aim to unite the community through art, music, literature, and tradition, positioning Barcolana as a significant cultural force in Trieste.
