Emergency teams in Muggia were deployed Thursday morning to respond to flooding caused by torrential rain that has battered the region, prompting the evacuation of local residents and the shutdown of roads.

One elderly resident was evacuated from their home and transferred to medical personnel, officials said. The individual’s condition was not immediately known, but no major injuries were reported at the time of writing. Rescue teams are also in the process of evacuating a local shopping center, as the flooding continued to threaten public safety in the area.

In response to the escalating situation, local officials halted traffic across all roads in the affected zone. Residents have been advised to avoid traveling in the area until further notice.
