In a press conference ahead of the upcoming Big Science Business Forum (BSBF), scheduled to take place in Trieste from October 1 to 4, the Governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia underscored the city’s growing prominence on the European scientific stage.
“We are striving, particularly in the realm of scientific research applied to enterprise, to establish Trieste as a scientific capital within the European context,” the Governor declared. “This forum will gather participants from numerous countries, each contributing to our shared goals. Trieste will be the European capital of science, at least as far as the Big Science Business Forum is concerned.”
The BSBF, a major international event, brings together key actors from the fields of science, research, and business to discuss opportunities and challenges in “Big Science” projects. It serves as a European platform, the Governor emphasized, highlighting the need for the entire continent to take advantage of the collaborative opportunities it presents.
“Trieste is not just hosting this forum,” the Governor concluded. “It is positioning itself at the heart of Europe’s scientific ambitions. The importance of this event extends beyond Italy; it’s a European opportunity, and the whole of Europe must take it seriously.”
The BSBF 2024 is expected to attract hundreds of participants from across the continent and beyond, fostering collaboration between scientific research institutions and industry leaders.
