The historic town of Muggia will see the conclusion of its annual chamber music series, Muggia in Musica: Musical Journeys in Historic Sites, this evening, Friday, September 27. The final concert, scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at the Church of San Rocco, will feature the acclaimed String Ensemble of Friuli and Veneto, joined by the local horn virtuoso Andrea Sfetez.
This year’s event series, organized by the Serenade Ensemble Association, has drawn large crowds, offering performances by young musicians from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and neighboring areas. Each concert has been hosted in one of Muggia’s historic churches, adding a unique atmosphere to the classical music performances.
Tonight’s ensemble, conducted by Guido Freschi, will perform a selection of works by Pachelbel, Vivaldi, Mozart, and Fauré. Sfetez, performing on a natural horn, will join for a special rendition of Boccherini’s quartet and Corrette’s concerto.
The series has enjoyed great success, with previous concerts filling venues to capacity. The program, known for blending local talent with historic settings, continues to be a highlight in the region’s cultural calendar. Admission to the event is free, and organizers are expecting another full house for the finale.
The Serenade Ensemble, which organized the event with the support of the Municipality of Muggia and local parishes, aims to make classical music accessible to all, bringing children and adults alike closer to the art form.
