In anticipation of a severe weather system, the Municipality of Trieste announced the closure of several public gardens beginning early tomorrow afternoon, October 3, citing adverse weather forecasts. The closures will remain in effect until conditions improve, city officials said in a statement today.
Among the gardens affected are some of the city’s most frequented green spaces, including the “de Tommasini” Public Garden on Via Giulia, the “Falcone e Borsellino” Garden in Altura, and the Villa Engelmann Garden on Via Chiadino. Other popular parks such as Parco Bazzoni and the Piazza Hortis Garden will also be shut to the public as a precautionary measure.
The closures reflect a broader effort by the city to ensure public safety as meteorologists predict worsening weather over the coming days. Winds and potential heavy rainfall are expected to create hazardous conditions for outdoor areas.
Despite the widespread shutdowns, Villa Sartorio’s garden on Via dei Modiano will remain open during regular hours, the municipality said. Additionally, Villa Revoltella’s garden will continue to allow access to the adjacent church, adhering to its usual opening and closing schedule.
These closures will inconvenience many residents, particularly families and elderly citizens who rely on these public spaces for leisure and exercise. However, city officials emphasize that the temporary measures are necessary to protect the public from potential risks associated with the inclement weather.
The timing of the reopenings remains uncertain, as officials continue to monitor weather conditions. Further updates will be provided by the local government as the situation evolves.
