The University of Trieste has set a new enrollment record, with 13,020 prospective students registering for presentations on its first-level degree programs, including Bachelor’s and Single-Cycle Master’s courses. The figure marks the highest number ever recorded for the university’s annual orientation event, signaling a growing demand for its academic offerings.
The three-day event, set to begin on October 16, is expected to draw students not only from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region but also from several Italian regions, including Veneto, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Puglia, and Campania. Attendees from neighboring Slovenia and Croatia are also anticipated, reflecting the university’s broader appeal across borders.
“This overwhelming interest in our Porte Aperte 2024 event rewards the continuous effort we’ve made to innovate our educational offerings and services for students,” said Lucio Torelli, the university’s delegate for Student Orientation. “We want to ensure that each student receives all the necessary information to enroll and make the most of their university experience.”
An Academic Showcase
The event will kick off at 9 a.m. on October 16 in the Aula Magna of the Central Building at Piazzale Europa. The first day will focus on Life and Health Sciences programs, which alone attracted 5,605 registrations. The following days will highlight the Social and Human Sciences (3,831 registrations) on October 17 and the Technological-Scientific fields (3,584 registrations) on October 18.
In between these presentations, students will have the opportunity to tour the Central Campus, gaining insight into the university’s facilities and resources.
A Comprehensive University Experience
In addition to the core academic presentations, prospective students will be able to attend a series of informational sessions designed to enhance their university experience. Representatives from the university’s International Mobility Office will provide details on Erasmus study abroad programs, while the Career Service will offer guidance on job orientation and employability. Other services highlighted will include the university’s Disability and Learning Disability Service, the Regional Agency for the Right to Education (ARDiS) with information on scholarships and housing, and the University Sports Center (C.U.S.).
The university is also promoting the Luciano Fonda Merit College, a prestigious residential college designed to support top academic achievers. For those who need further guidance, information desks on all these services will be available throughout the event without prior appointment.
With such a broad array of presentations and services, the University of Trieste is positioning itself as a leading institution not only in Italy but also in the wider European academic landscape, where student satisfaction and future success are becoming increasingly critical measures of success.
My mother was a Triestine who married an american soldier in 1948. I have always had an attachment to Trieste as my mother’s family remained there. My last visit was in 2013. I enjoy reading anything and everything that I can find on Trieste. Having found your site, I would wonder if the quarterly issue is online only or possibly in print. I would be interested in your price for each issue. Thank you for your beautiful publication. It helps satisfy my longing for Trieste. Hopefully someday soon, I will return.
