The Palazzo delle Poste, a historic architectural gem in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, has opened a new exhibition to mark the 130th anniversary of its construction. Titled “Il Palazzo delle Poste e Telegrafi di Trieste: Architecture, Art, and Philately,” the exhibition highlights the significance of the building, designed by architect Friedrich Setz, in the architectural and postal history of the city.

The exhibition, a collaboration between the Comune di Trieste and the Museo Postale Telegrafico della Mitteleuropa, presents original design drawings, historical documents, and philatelic items that trace the development of the Palazzo and its role in the city’s history. The municipal technical archives, which hold these valuable records, have played a key role in bringing the exhibit to life.

Curators Gianfranco Paliaga and Adelio Paladini, both specialists from Trieste’s technical archives, have meticulously crafted the exhibition to highlight the building’s architectural grandeur and its place in the evolution of postal services in the region. The display also includes a range of historic objects and documents, shedding light on both the artistic and functional aspects of the building.

Visitors will be able to explore the exhibition until November 30, gaining a deeper appreciation of one of Trieste’s most important landmarks and its influence on the city’s urban and cultural development.
