Against the backdrop of Villa Firenze, the elegant residence of the Italian Ambassador to the United States, Friuli Venezia Giulia, a region known for its rich culinary and wine heritage, hosted a remarkable evening. The event, orchestrated by PromoTurismoFVG in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and the National Italian American Foundation, gathered a notable crowd from across the United States and Italy, all eager to experience some of Italy’s finest exports.
The night showcased a curated selection of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s gastronomic treasures under the “Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” label. With meticulously arranged displays, wines, cheeses, and artisanal products were on full display, set against the lush surroundings of Villa Firenze’s sprawling gardens. The evening served as a cultural bridge, bringing together diplomats, business leaders, and connoisseurs in a shared appreciation for Friuli’s distinctive regional offerings.
Over 300 guests attended, including Italian Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, both of whom underscored the event’s diplomatic significance in fostering cross-continental relationships. As guests mingled, two informational stands highlighted the regional brand’s commitment to quality, tradition, and sustainability, further enhancing the night’s cultural resonance.
In his address, Friuli Venezia Giulia’s Governor, Massimiliano Fedriga, extended heartfelt thanks to Italian Ambassador Mariangela Zappia, whose longstanding support has fortified ties between Italy and the United States. “Tonight is about celebrating our region, our people, and the American appreciation of authentic Italian culture. With our products, we offer a small piece of Friuli Venezia Giulia to the world,” said Fedriga.
Regional Councillor for Economic Activities and Tourism, Sergio Emidio Bini, praised the efforts of PromoTurismoFVG’s team, noting their professionalism in handling the evening’s proceedings. “This night not only puts Friuli Venezia Giulia on the map for our American friends, but it’s a promising start for increasing economic opportunities here,” Bini remarked, hinting at growing interest in Italian-made goods stateside.
Amidst the aroma of fresh cheeses and rich wines, the evening was not merely a promotional gathering but a celebration of Italy’s timeless appeal and the emerging global interest in regional excellence. It was a night that proved, once again, how Italy’s cultural legacy endures, one bite and one sip at a time.
