As the Friuli Venezia Giulia region gears up for its role in the European Capital of Culture 2025 program, a new high-profile event has been added to the calendar: a concert by the legendary British musician Sting at Villa Manin, set for July 9. Regional Governor Massimiliano Fedriga announced the news following the official release of the Italian dates on Sting’s world tour, calling the event “an important initiative” that reinforces the area’s appeal to global tourists and culture enthusiasts.
The concert, which will take place in the grounds of the historic Villa Manin in Passariano, is part of the Go!2025&Friends lineup, an expanded schedule of events that supplements the main European Capital of Culture calendar. This supplementary program is aimed at showcasing not only the cross-border cities of Nova Gorica and Gorizia but also inviting visitors to experience the broader appeal of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Aimed at maximizing the region’s international presence, the Go!2025&Friends initiative includes art exhibitions, concerts by global artists, and various cultural activities spread throughout the year.
“This is not just a cultural event but a significant step in reinforcing Friuli Venezia Giulia’s appeal as a destination for diverse tourist experiences,” Fedriga remarked. “We want the Go!2025 momentum to spread across the region, attracting new visitors with a range of unique and enticing offerings.”
The addition of Sting to the calendar, a rock icon who has garnered a devoted fanbase across generations, underscores the high ambitions of the Friuli Venezia Giulia government as it seeks to capitalize on its selection as part of the 2025 cultural hub. This event is expected to draw thousands of fans and culture lovers from both Italy and abroad, further boosting tourism.
Governor Fedriga extended his thanks to PromoTurismoFVG and the Municipality of Gorizia, whose collaborative efforts, he noted, “made it possible to expand the offerings of Go!2025, fostering a long-term vision to enhance Friuli Venezia Giulia’s reputation and attractiveness.” The concert at Villa Manin is part of a broader strategy to position Friuli Venezia Giulia as a distinctive, year-round cultural and touristic destination, with effects that are expected to resonate long after the European Capital of Culture events conclude.
Tickets for Sting’s concert go on general sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, and will be available through platforms such as eilo.it, ticketone.it, ticketmaster.it, vivaticket.com, and eventim.si.
