Cameron Mackintosh’s celebrated production of Les Misérables is taking to the world’s largest stages in a grand arena adaptation, Les Misérables The Arena Spectacular. This global tour, which debuted to resounding acclaim in the United Kingdom, features an expanded cast and a visually breathtaking new design, crafted specifically for arena spaces in more than 15 countries and regions worldwide. With this tour, Les Misérables enters its 40th year of performances in London, marking a milestone for the globally beloved musical.

After its initial run in the UK, the production will cross borders to Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, and China, with additional stops to be announced in the coming weeks.

Italy, however, holds a unique place in this tour: the Les Misérables arena production will make its long-awaited Italian premiere in Trieste, hosted by the Rossetti theater from November 7 to November 11.

The Trieste stop is not just another performance. It’s the first time an official production of Les Misérables will play in Italy—a country known for its passionate theater and opera culture but one where Les Misérables has never had a major debut. Fans from across Italy are expected to gather in Trieste, eager to witness this historical moment in Italian theater.

The Arena Spectacular tour is a larger-than-life version of Les Misérables, featuring a cast and orchestra exceeding 65 members. It also includes several celebrated Les Mis guest stars, each of whom will make appearances in select cities based on their schedules. As a story of resilience and redemption, Hugo’s Les Misérables remains timeless, exploring themes of unrequited love, broken dreams, and the strength of the human spirit. In this adaptation, audiences will hear its iconic score—including “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Bring Him Home,” and “One Day More”—in a grand new arrangement that enhances the epic scope of the narrative.

A Tale of Global Resonance

Though originally set in 19th-century France, Hugo’s story has continued to resonate with audiences worldwide, and this arena tour marks the latest chapter in its storied history. This massive production is expected to reach millions globally, and the unique staging for arenas adds a new dimension to the story’s epic nature, immersing audiences in the streets of revolutionary Paris.

Performance Schedule and Details

The Trieste performances at the Politeama Rossetti will open Thursday, November 7, with additional shows on November 8, two performances on November 9 and 10, and a final performance on Monday, November 11. The show will then travel to Milan, where it will play at the Teatro Arcimboldi from November 14 to 24.

In an era when classic works are continuously reinterpreted, the Les Misérables Arena Spectacular promises a fresh perspective on a beloved narrative, bringing one of the world’s most iconic musicals to new audiences in a visually and sonically immersive production that truly must be seen to be believed.

For now, all eyes are on Trieste, where Les Misérables will not only be seen but felt, as it prepares to inspire Italian audiences for the very first time.
