Trieste’s Maritime Station has set a new milestone, welcoming over 500,000 cruise passengers this year, marking a 5% increase compared to 2023. The achievement, reported by Trieste Terminal Passeggeri (TTP), was reached during the most recent weekend, further solidifying the city’s reputation as a top destination for cruise travelers.

With 177,540 passengers boarding, 176,586 disembarking, and 147,686 transiting through, the numbers reflect a significant growth in maritime tourism. TTP highlighted that the city’s strategic location and efficient port services have contributed to this record-breaking performance, bolstering Trieste’s role as a key player in Italy’s tourism sector.

“This achievement underscores Trieste’s appeal as a major tourist destination,” said a spokesperson for TTP. “It generates employment and adds substantial value to the services dedicated to passengers, benefiting the local economy.”

The growth of cruise tourism in Trieste not only enhances the city’s international profile but also creates ripple effects in its hospitality, retail, and transport sectors. This surge in visitors signals a promising future for Trieste as it continues to attract travelers from around the world.

TTP also expressed gratitude to the various institutions and stakeholders who have worked together to make this success possible, from local authorities to tourism professionals, ensuring that Trieste remains a vibrant and welcoming port of call.
