From November 19 to 23, the historic Sala Luttazzi at Magazzino 26 in Trieste’s revitalized Porto Vecchio district will come alive with a diverse lineup of cultural events under the banner Una Luce Sempre Accesa (A Light Always On). The series highlights Trieste’s role as a hub for artistic expression and social engagement.
A Call for Peace
The week opens on Tuesday, November 19, with Fari di Pace (Lighthouses of Peace), a public forum organized by Pax Christi Italia and the Diocese of Trieste. The event supports global disarmament and Italy’s constitutional commitment to peace, aligning with the passage of the global peace march through Trieste.
Art as Advocacy
On Wednesday, November 20, Le Parole di Tallio (The Words of Thallium), a poignant theater and music performance, addresses bullying and cyberbullying. Featuring the testimony of Aurora Borgolotto, a psychology graduate with Alström Syndrome, the event pairs her story with live performances by local musicians and the Giovane Incanto choir.
Music Without Age Limits
As part of the La Cultura Non Ha Età (Culture Has No Age) program, Thursday, November 21 will feature a free concert by students of Scuola di Musica 55. Tailored for Trieste’s senior citizens, the series reflects the city’s inclusive approach to the arts.
Comedy in Dialect
The series concludes on Saturday, November 23, with Meio Soli! (Better Alone!), a comedy performed in the Triestine dialect by the Il Gabbiano Theater Group. The lively production explores honeymoon hijinks and features a cast of eccentric characters. Tickets are required for this performance.
