Road rehabilitation work commenced Monday in the southern part of Trieste, focusing on several key streets as part of a broader infrastructure improvement initiative. The project, outlined in the city’s Three-Year Works Plan under project code 21005, aims to address deteriorating road conditions and enhance safety for residents and commuters.

The rehabilitation efforts include resurfacing, repairing damaged sections, and updating horizontal road markings. The work will affect several areas, with temporary closures and traffic management measures in place:

  • Strada della Rosandra: From the roundabout at Via Flavia to the municipal boundary, with lane reductions and alternating one-way traffic regulated by controllers for seven days.
  • Via di Vittorio: From the Church of Jesus the Divine Worker to Via dei Gravisi, closed during daytime hours for five days, with access limited to emergency vehicles.
  • Via Fonte Oppia: From Via dell’Istria to Via Slavich, also closed during daytime hours for five days, with exceptions for emergency vehicles.
  • Via Flavia: Targeted repairs from Via dei Gravisi to Via di Vittorio, requiring lane reductions and alternating traffic over two days.

The work, projected to last approximately 20 days, is part of a €366,908.51 investment (excluding VAT) to upgrade the area’s infrastructure. It is being carried out by Ghiaie Ponterosso Srl under the supervision of engineers Gustavo Zandanel, Luca Folin, and Paolo Giorgi.

Future rehabilitation projects, including improvements to Via San Pasquale, are planned for spring 2025, according to the Municipality of Trieste. Further details on these initiatives will be released as planning progresses.

These developments reflect ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and accessibility across the region. Local authorities advise residents and motorists to prepare for minor disruptions during construction.
