A nationwide general strike scheduled for Friday, November 29, will disrupt local public transportation across Friuli Venezia Giulia, affecting buses, trains, and other regional services. The 24-hour strike, organized by various transport unions, will impact both operational staff and administrative personnel, potentially leading to widespread cancelations and delays throughout the region.
The strike is set to begin at midnight on Thursday, November 28, and continue until midnight on Friday, November 29. While the strike’s reach is widespread, some services will be preserved during specific hours, known as “guarantee time slots.”
Affected Areas and Service Interruptions
In the Udine area, operated by Arriva Udine, urban and extraurban bus services will be disrupted. Guarantee time slots will include services running between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM, and from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Outside of these hours, services are not guaranteed.
The Trieste area (Trieste Trasporti) will also face disruptions in urban bus services. Guarantee time slots will include connections between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM, and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Additionally, the Trieste-Muggia maritime connection will remain unaffected and operate as scheduled.
In the Isonzo area, covering Gorizia, Monfalcone, and Grado, as well as extraurban services, disruptions are expected between 12:00 AM and 12:00 AM the following day. Guarantee time slots in this area will include connections between 6:00 AM and 8:59 AM, and between 12:00 PM and 2:59 PM.
Finally, the Pordenone area will see interruptions in both urban and extraurban services operated by ATAP Pordenone. Guarantee time slots will include urban services between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM, and between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM. Extraurban services will be guaranteed between 6:00 AM and 8:30 AM, and from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Special services for the transportation of people with disabilities, school buses, and airport connections will continue to operate as usual. Additionally, a bus departing from the CRO of Aviano at 4:35 PM will not be impacted.
Possible Disruptions Across the Region
Commuters throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia should be prepared for cancellations and delays, particularly during the hours outside of the designated guarantee time slots. The strike’s scope is expected to affect daily travel routines, including school buses and services for people with disabilities.
