The small community of Opicina, nestled on the outskirts of Trieste, is once again transforming into a holiday wonderland with its annual “Natale con Noi” celebration. Running from November 29, 2024, to January 12, 2025, the festivities offer a rich program of cultural and family-friendly events designed to bring holiday cheer to the Carso region.

Key highlights include the installation of three traditional nativity scenes at Villa Carsia, Via di Prosecco, and the Percedol Pond, with each featuring handcrafted additions. The event kicks off with the lighting of the Christmas tree in Piazzale Monte Re on December 5, accompanied by carols from the Coro d’Argento and a visit from San Nicolò, who will hand out treats to children.

The community will host a series of markets, book presentations, art exhibits, and live performances throughout the season. Particularly notable is the reopening of Jernej Šček’s literary café on December 5 and the Percedol nativity inauguration on December 15, featuring performances by local choirs.

For history enthusiasts, guided tours of the World War II-era Kleine Berlin and Opicina bunkers will take place on select dates in December and early January.

Shoppers can enjoy extended store hours and free weekend parking in partnership with ZKB Zadružna Kraška Banka.

Promoted by local organizations, including the Consorzio Insieme a Opicina and the Municipality of Trieste, the event underscores the enduring charm of Opicina’s community spirit. Updates and event details are available on the “A Opicina Natale con Noi” Facebook page.
