On Friday, December 6, the Luigi Einaudi Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Trieste, will host a conference titled “Luigi Einaudi, the President of the Miracle,” in celebration of two major milestones: the 150th anniversary of the birth of Luigi Einaudi, the first elected President of the Italian Republic, and the 70th anniversary of the honorary degree he received from the University of Trieste.
The event, supported by the Municipality of Trieste and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, will take place at the University’s campus at Piazzale Europa 1.
Einaudi, who was a renowned intellectual, economist, journalist, and politician, played a pivotal role in shaping post-war Italy. The conference will feature a screening of the documentary “The President of the Miracle,” which explores his legacy, produced by the Einaudi Foundation and directed by Pupi Avati.
Several prominent figures are set to participate, including Andrea Cangini, Secretary General of the Einaudi Foundation; Roberto Di Lenarda, Rector of the University of Trieste; Donata Vianelli, Director of the University’s Department of Economics, Management, and Statistics (DEAMS); and Maurizio De Blasio, Councillor for Education and Family Policies of the Municipality of Trieste.
Other notable attendees include Gianluigi Gallenti, President of the DEAMS Centenary Committee at the University of Trieste; Emma Galli, Director of the Einaudi Foundation’s Scientific Committee; Francesco Magris, Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Trieste; and Giacinto Micucci, Deputy Director of the Bank of Italy’s Trieste branch.
The event will be moderated by Fabrizio Brancoli, Deputy Director of Il Piccolo, the Trieste-based newspaper, with responsibilities for the Nem Group.
This conference promises to shed new light on the life and influence of a man whose work continues to resonate in Italy and beyond, offering a rare opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary achievements of one of Italy’s most significant post-war statesmen.
