This weekend, the historic Mercato Coperto will host “Farmer & Artist 2024,” a vibrant showcase of local flavors, music, and craftsmanship. The event, running December 7–8 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., brings together 46 farmers and artisans from across Friuli Venezia Giulia, Slovenia, and beyond.
Deputy Mayor Serena Tonel, who introduced the event during a press conference on Thursday, highlighted its dual mission: “to promote the high-quality agricultural products of the Carso region and to encourage food education focused on sustainability and local consumption.”
Visitors can explore tastings of local wines, cheeses, and other artisanal goods, with live jazz and swing performances enhancing the festive atmosphere. Workshops for children and adults will delve into traditional food preparation, fermentation techniques, and holiday crafts.
“Farmer & Artist” is part of a broader initiative led by GAL Carso and supported by Slow Food Italia and PromoTurismoFVG. The collaboration underscores a commitment to preserving biodiversity and regional traditions while fostering economic growth.
Admission is free, with tastings and workshops available at a modest cost.
