The 2024 festive season in Friuli Venezia-Giulia sees a return of the celebration of Santa Lucia – from Pordenone to Venzone- celebrated between 12 and 13 December.

Santa Lucia, much like San Nicolò in Trieste, brings kids candies and coal (chocolate flavored, naturally) on the night between the 12th and 13th December.

The December darkness will be illuminated by various processions of S. Lucia across Friuli Venezia-Giulia, comprising choirs who will sing traditional Christmas hymns. From Pordenone to Venzone, kids will write letters to Santa Lucia on Monday night to get the much-awaited gifts on Tuesday morning.

From markets, to nativity scenes, there’s plenty to discover this week in Friuli Venezia-Giulia. For more info, please see here.
