The Magazzino delle Idee hosts a remarkable exhibition shedding light on the legacy of one of Italy’s most celebrated photography studios. Titled Wulz Photography. Trieste, the Family, the Atelier, this exhibit, curated by Antonio Giusa and Federica Muzzarelli, delves into the rich history of the Wulz family and their atelier, which once formed the cultural and artistic heartbeat of Trieste.
Organized by the Regional Authority for Cultural Heritage of Friuli Venezia Giulia in partnership with the Alinari Foundation of Florence, the exhibition features works drawn from the archives of the Wulz Photography Studio. These archives, now housed within the prestigious Alinari Archives, were acquired by the Tuscany Region and entrusted to the Alinari Foundation for Photography, underscoring the Wulz family’s enduring contributions to Italian culture and art.
Visitors will find a carefully curated selection of historical and critical works, reflecting the Wulz family’s innovative artistry across generations. From striking portraits to evocative urban landscapes, the collection offers an intimate portrayal of Trieste’s evolving identity through the lens of its most iconic photographers.
Running through April 27, 2025, the exhibition forms part of the “GO!2025&Friends” cultural program, an initiative tied to GO!2025 Nova Gorica – Gorizia European Capital of Culture. Situated at the crossroads of Italian, Slovenian, and Central European influences, Trieste emerges once again as a vital hub of creativity and cultural exchange.
