The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and Despar Nord, a leading supermarket chain in Italy, announced a partnership aimed at bolstering employment in the Trieste area. The collaboration will culminate in a “Job Day” on January 28, 2025, providing opportunities for local residents to explore careers with the brand.
The event, to be held in the Sala Colonne of the Palazzo della Regione in Piazza Unità d’Italia, will focus on recruiting staff for a new Despar store opening in Piazza Cavana. The company plans to hire 18 employees to fill roles in deli, produce, and meat departments. Candidates can submit applications via a dedicated regional portal, where details and submission requirements are available.
The announcement follows a series of investments by Despar Nord in Trieste, including recent renovations at stores in Via del Teatro Romano, Piazza San Giovanni, and Via Rossini, which led to the creation of seven jobs. The company operates 18 stores in the area, employing 372 people, with an additional 11 affiliated locations staffed by 75 employees.
The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region’s Employment Centers will support the recruitment process by screening applications and coordinating interviews for eligible candidates in early February 2025.
“Despar Nord is committed to expanding its presence in Trieste and Friuli Venezia Giulia,” said Fabrizio Cicero, the company’s regional director. “This initiative reflects our strategy to invest in the local economy and grow our team while meeting the needs of the community.”
The partnership highlights ongoing efforts by the region to facilitate connections between employers and job seekers, with a focus on creating sustainable economic opportunities.
