Trenitalia, the Italian national railway company, has announced upcoming disruptions to train services on the Trieste-Venice line due to scheduled maintenance by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana. The disruptions will occur over the weekend of December 27-29, with service changes beginning at 10:40 PM on Friday and lasting until 6:20 AM on Sunday. Affected areas include the route between the stations of Portogruaro and Monfalcone.

In addition to this weekend’s disruption, similar changes will occur on subsequent weekends in January, February, and March. Specifically, the service will be affected on January 10-12, January 17-19, February 7-9, February 14-16, March 7-9, and March 14-16. These changes are expected to impact several train lines, including Frecciarossa and Intercity services.

Frecciarossa trains traveling between Rome, Venice, and Trieste, as well as those operating on the Turin/Milan-Venice-Trieste routes, will experience schedule modifications. Some trains will have limited service at Venezia Santa Lucia station, while others will take alternate routes between Venezia Mestre and Trieste Centrale, omitting stops at Monfalcone, Trieste Airport, Cervignano, and Latisana. As a result, travelers may face longer journey times.

Intercity trains on the Rome-Trieste route will also experience changes, with services suspended between Venezia Mestre and Monfalcone. Passengers on these routes will be provided with replacement bus services between the affected stations.

In an effort to maintain service continuity, Trenitalia has arranged for buses to operate between Trieste Centrale, Monfalcone, Portogruaro, and Mestre during the affected periods. Passengers should be aware that bicycles and animals are not permitted on these buses, with the exception of guide dogs.
