According to ARPA FVG (the Regional Environmental Protection Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia), Friday, December 27, is expected to bring clear skies to Trieste and the nearby Karst region. However, a moderate Bora wind is forecast to sweep through the area, with stronger gusts anticipated overnight and into the morning hours.
Yesterday, the powerful Bora winds sweeping through Trieste caused dramatic disruptions, including the collapse of a streetlamp in the city’s historic Piazza Venezia and the suspension of ferry services to neighboring Muggia. Ferry operations have since been restored this Friday, though local authorities continue to monitor conditions closely.
Thermal inversions are also expected today, with cooler air remaining close to the ground and warmer air above. The freezing point is projected to be around 9,200 feet (2,800 meters).
Authorities recommend exercising caution during periods of stronger gusts, particularly in exposed areas. Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay informed as conditions develop.
