After days of adverse weather that kept locals and visitors indoors, Trieste’s public gardens are set to reopen on Saturday, December 28, the city announced.
The move comes as weather conditions across the region have significantly improved, allowing municipal authorities to ensure the safety of the city’s green spaces. Closed earlier this week due to heavy rain and strong winds, the gardens are a vital refuge for residents seeking a quiet moment in nature or a family-friendly outing in the bustling port city.
The Municipality of Trieste issued a statement on Friday confirming that all public gardens would be accessible from tomorrow morning. “Following the improvement in weather conditions, all public gardens will reopen on Saturday, December 28,” the announcement read.
Local residents have welcomed the news. “I take my granddaughter to the gardens every weekend,” said Marta G., a lifelong Triestine. “We’ve missed it during the storms, so we’re thrilled to hear they’ll reopen.”
Trieste, known for its mix of Italian, Austrian, and Slovenian influences, boasts a number of popular public parks, including the Giardino Pubblico Muzio de Tommasini and Parco di San Giovanni. These spaces are not only a draw for residents but also for the growing number of tourists who flock to this historic Adriatic port city.
