The Italian Association of Cancer Patients, Relatives, and Friends (AIMaC) is seeking two volunteers for its longstanding Informacancro program, an initiative aimed at improving the lives of cancer patients and their families. The program, now in its 18th year, operates in collaboration with the Oncology Department at Trieste’s Maggiore Hospital (Asugi) and is managed by the Italian Federation of Oncology Volunteer Associations.
The initiative focuses on enhancing patient care by providing critical information and psychological support. Volunteers play a key role in helping patients navigate the complexities of cancer, including its personal, familial, social, and economic impacts. They work alongside a multidisciplinary team of medical specialists, nurses, and psychologists to foster a welcoming environment and address emotional and social needs.
“The Informacancro 2025 project is not only about delivering information but also about breaking the stigma surrounding cancer and helping patients maintain a good quality of life,” the program’s organizers said in a statement.
Volunteers are tasked with assisting patients and their families through orientation, support services, and organizing activities to alleviate the stress of a cancer diagnosis. These efforts aim to reduce the isolation often felt by patients and promote a sense of adaptability and empowerment.
