The final weekend of January has arrived, bringing mild temperatures to our picturesque Adriatic city. While Saturday promises pleasant conditions, a light drizzle is forecast for Sunday. We took to the bustling streets of Trieste’s historic downtown to find out how locals plan to spend their weekend.
“I’ll start Saturday with a coffee at my favorite café in Piazza Unità,” said Marco, a retired teacher. “It’s the best place to enjoy the calm before the rain.”
For Lucia, a university student, the forecast is no deterrent. “Sunday will be perfect for curling up with a book,” she said, gesturing to a bag filled with freshly purchased novels from a local bookstore.
Families are also seizing the opportunity for leisure. “We’re taking the kids to the Karst on Saturday for some fresh air,” shared Giulia, a mother of two. “If it rains, we’ll switch to the Science Museum.”
Art lovers have other plans. “I’m going to see the new exhibition at Magazzino delle Idee,” said Davide, an architect.
From cozy indoor pursuits to exploring Trieste’s cultural gems, locals are embracing the weekend’s mix of weather with quintessential Italian flair.
For Trieste, it seems, every weekend is one to savor—rain or shine.
