The Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission, in collaboration with PromoTurismoFVG, presented a three-year review of its activities (2022-2024) at an event held in Trieste’s Sala Luttazzi.

Since joining PromoTurismoFVG, the Film Commission has supported 224 productions, funding 76 of them. These activities have generated nearly €75 million in economic impact, reinforcing the region’s appeal for both local and international film projects.

Economic Impact and Investment

Over the three-year period, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Fund provided €6.3 million in contributions, supplemented by €400,000 from the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce. This investment led to €29.7 million in direct spending, rising to €41.6 million when factoring in additional major productions. Using an industry-standard multiplier, the total impact reached €75 million.

The region hosted 1,520 filming days, leading to 60,800 overnight stays and the employment of over 7,100 extras, contributing to local economic and professional growth.

Notable Productions and Audience Reach

Several productions filmed in the region have gained national and international recognition. Television successes include Fiori sopra l’inferno (24.8% viewership share) and Ninfa Dormiente (22.4%). On the cinematic front, Napoli New York, shot in Trieste, sold over 700,000 tickets, ranking among the top Italian films of 2024.

Friuli Venezia Giulia has also been featured in high-profile music videos, such as Mahmood’s Tuta Gold, filmed in Trieste’s Rozzol Melara district, which reached 93 million views.

Future Prospects

Looking ahead, new productions are scheduled in 2025, including Ultimo Schiaffo by Matteo Oleotto and La lezione by Stefano Mordini. Additionally, an international TV series, The Great Chimera, begins filming in February.

The Film Commission continues to position Friuli Venezia Giulia as a strategic hub for film production, offering diverse locations, logistical support, and a skilled workforce, further enhancing the region’s profile in the global entertainment industry.
