Powerful bora winds sweeping through Trieste on Monday morning brought down a large maritime pine in one of the city’s most frequented public spaces, the playground in Barcola. The tree, which crashed among children’s rides in the pine grove area, fell just after 10 a.m.

No injuries or significant damage were reported, as the playground was empty at the time of the collapse.

The bora, a fierce northeasterly wind characteristic of the Adriatic coast, has been battering the city with strong gusts for hours. This latest incident highlights ongoing concerns about the impact of extreme weather on Trieste’s green spaces.

Firefighters quickly secured the area, while local police and municipal maintenance crews arrived to assess the situation and plan for the tree’s removal.
