As the Adriatic resort town of Grado prepares for the 2025 tourist season, regional officials have outlined new initiatives aimed at strengthening its appeal to visitors.

Sergio Emidio Bini, Friuli Venezia Giulia’s regional councillor for tourism, presented upcoming developments during an event in Grado on Saturday, emphasizing efforts to maintain affordability, improve infrastructure, and attract international travelers.
“Thanks to the work done in recent years, Grado offers a high-quality tourism experience,” Bini said, citing stable beach prices, increased foreign bookings driven by online platforms, and enhanced security measures for visitors.
Also present at the event were Grado’s mayor, Giuseppe Corbatto, and Roberto Marin, president of Grado Impianti Turistici (Git), the company that manages the town’s beach infrastructure.
Regional officials credit a rise in tourism revenue to expanded promotional efforts, including national and international campaigns designed to highlight Friuli Venezia Giulia’s unique destinations. Bini also announced a €1 million allocation from the regional government for infrastructure improvements at Git-managed beach areas.
Among the key projects is the ongoing redevelopment of the Grado Thermal Baths. Work on the second phase of renovations began in September 2024, with €4.5 million allocated to upgrading the facility’s second floor. The expansion will introduce new wellness-focused services, including a fitness area, a spa, a beauty center, and an outdoor terrace. The renovations are expected to be completed by July.
Beyond infrastructure investments, officials also acknowledged the challenges posed by seasonal employment. Bini highlighted efforts to provide housing support for tourism sector workers, noting that labor shortages remain a persistent issue.
“This is a forward-thinking decision that improves the living conditions of staff and makes it easier for employers to recruit in a competitive job market,” Bini said.
Grado, often referred to as the “Isola del Sole” or “Island of the Sun,” is a popular summer destination known for its Blue Flag-certified beaches, historical charm, and proximity to Venice. With its latest investments, the town aims to sustain its tourism growth while ensuring a welcoming experience for both visitors and workers alike.
