In a move aimed at improving public transportation access to one of the city’s most popular seaside destinations, officials announced that beginning February 3, the route of Trieste’s Line 19 bus will be extended to Barcola’s Piazzale 11 Settembre from Monday to Saturday.

Under the revised schedule, all buses departing from Via Puccini—starting with the 7:40 a.m. service and running through the 7:32 p.m. departure—will follow their usual route to Largo Città di Santos, the stop adjacent to the city’s main railway station. From there, they will continue along the Porto Vivo-Porto Vecchio bypass before reaching their final stop in Barcola. The last trip of the day will arrive at Piazzale 11 Settembre at 8:04 p.m.

On Sundays and public holidays, a new Line 19/ will be introduced. This alternative service will start at Largo della Barriera Vecchia, travel through Porto Vivo-Porto Vecchio, and terminate in Barcola. The implementation of this weekend and holiday service aims to provide greater connectivity for residents and visitors heading to the waterfront district.

With these modifications, authorities confirmed that Line 6 will no longer take detours through Porto Vivo-Porto Vecchio, streamlining its path through the city.

Transit officials have made the updated schedules for Lines 6, 19, and 19/ available online. Passengers can access the revised timetables in the “Lines and Timetables” section of the municipal transit website as well as on the Tpl Fvg website under “Services and Timetables.”

Local commuters have long called for enhanced service to Barcola, especially as the district continues to attract visitors year-round. The changes mark a significant step in addressing growing transit needs while optimizing existing routes for efficiency.

For more information, commuters are encouraged to check official transit channels and stay updated on further adjustments as they take effect.
