Who says scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical disciplines can’t be fun? In fact, the subjects that often intimidate many are being showcased in a new light during the National Week of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The week, which is organized by Italy’s Ministry of University and Research, aims to spark curiosity and ignite a passion for these vital fields, particularly among the younger generation.
On Sunday, February 9, the Immaginario Scientifico in Trieste — one of the city’s premier science museums — will be hosting an interactive event designed to bring these disciplines to life. Visitors, especially children and teens, will have the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of electronics firsthand. The museum’s workshop space will be transformed into a hands-on learning environment where participants can experiment with electronic circuits, materials, tools, and prototypes, learning about the many applications of technology that influence our daily lives.
This event marks the second year of the STEM Week initiative, which seeks to engage young minds in the world of science, providing a glimpse into the vast potential for growth and career opportunities in these fields. The Ministry’s objective is clear: to foster both educational and professional development through active engagement with STEM subjects.
The activity is open to visitors aged 9 and up and will take place twice on the 9th — once at 11:00 AM and again at 4:00 PM. No prior reservation is required, and the experience is included with museum admission.
As the world continues to evolve through innovation and technological advancement, events like these are essential in shaping the next generation of problem-solvers and thinkers. The Immaginario Scientifico is playing a key role in ensuring that young people in Trieste — and beyond — can discover the excitement and potential of science, one experiment at a time.
