A documentary exploring the forced displacement of Italians from the eastern border region after World War II will be screened on February 10 at the Politeama Rossetti theater. The film, “Ricordare, portare al cuore” (“Remembering, Bringing to the Heart”), will be shown at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in Sala 1954, with free admission while seats are available.

Produced by the Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia and directed by Paolo Valerio, the documentary features actors from the theater company performing in historically significant locations, including the Basovizza Foiba, the Padriciano Refugee Collection Center, and Magazzino 18 in Trieste’s Old Port. The film incorporates testimonies and archival material to recount the experiences of those who, under the 1947 peace treaties, were forced to leave their homes as the region was ceded to Yugoslavia.

The screening is organized in recognition of Giorno del Ricordo (Remembrance Day), an Italian national observance honoring the victims of postwar violence in the borderlands and the exodus of thousands of Italians from the region.
