In a bid to strengthen the regional startup ecosystem, the government of Friuli Venezia Giulia has announced a new financial initiative aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs in the early stages of business development.

Sergio Emidio Bini, the region’s Councillor for Productive Activities, unveiled the plan during a meeting in Udine with the Youth Entrepreneurship Committee of the Pordenone-Udine Chamber of Commerce. The initiative includes a non-repayable funding program of €2 million, set to be available from May 15 to June 16, 2025. The funds will prioritize innovative startups in advanced manufacturing and service industries.
“We want to encourage new businesses in technologically advanced sectors,” Bini said. “This investment will help ensure that Friuli Venezia Giulia remains competitive in an evolving global market.”
The announcement reflects the regional government’s broader commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. During the meeting, Bini encouraged young business leaders to actively engage with policymakers, urging them to contribute ideas and help shape supportive economic strategies.
“The Region is committed to listening and collaborating,” he said. “By maintaining an open dialogue, we can better identify shared goals and solutions.”
To further this effort, the government plans to host regular meetings with young entrepreneurs, a move designed to improve communication and raise awareness about available economic incentives.
The initiative comes as part of a larger economic strategy that has already secured substantial backing. The regional government has worked in partnership with The European House – Ambrosetti, a leading consulting firm, to develop the FVG Manufacturing Agenda 2030. The plan received an initial allocation of €57.5 million from the regional budget, with an additional €50 million from European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) resources.
“In just two months, we have earmarked €107.5 million for targeted business initiatives,” Bini noted. “This funding will support a variety of projects, including 11 new grant opportunities for local enterprises.”
Entrepreneurs at the meeting welcomed the financial support, particularly the regional government’s efforts to streamline application procedures and reduce bureaucratic hurdles. Many expressed optimism about the potential impact on the local economy.
For Friuli Venezia Giulia, long recognized as a center of industrial and technological innovation, the initiative marks another step in its effort to modernize its business landscape and attract new talent. As regional leaders continue to invest in entrepreneurship, many hope these measures will position the area as a key player in Italy’s evolving economic framework.
