From March 1 to 9, the Friuli Venezia Giulia region will once again “return to the kitchen” in Pordenone, as it participates in the renowned culinary event, “Cucinare.” Held alongside the Ortogiardino fair, which runs from March 2 to 10, the event will highlight the region’s agricultural and culinary strengths, bringing together local businesses and food enthusiasts in an immersive celebration of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s rich heritage.

Organized in collaboration with Fab FVG (Fondazione Agrifood & Bioeconomy FVG), this year’s edition will feature a dedicated space for tourism promotion, as well as a collective of 14 companies proudly showcasing products under the “Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” brand. The event aims to offer a deeper insight into the region’s culinary excellences while fostering connections between local producers and the public.

The 243-square-meter “Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” area will be located within pavilion 5BIS (5B/T 66) at the Fiera di Pordenone. Visitors will find 14 booths representing local food and beverage companies, each contributing to the region’s distinctive gastronomic identity. In addition, an info point will be available to promote tourism and regional offerings to both local and international audiences.

The participating companies include well-known names such as Azienda Agricola Carusone Sandra, Antico Molino Pussini, Cantina Borgo delle Rose, and Pasticceria Mosaico Aquileia. These brands represent a diverse cross-section of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s agricultural and culinary sector, offering everything from artisanal pastries to premium wines and liqueurs. The “Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” initiative stands as a collective effort to spotlight the region’s authentic flavors, strengthening its global presence in the competitive world of food and wine.

A highlight of the event will be a special session on March 9, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., organized by PromoTurismoFVG. This session, titled “The Experience of the Io Sono FVG Collective Brand – Voices of the Producers in Comparison and the Gastronomic Proposal of the Chef with Regional Branded Products,” will feature a roundtable discussion moderated by Stefania Marcuz, an expert in food science and sensory analysis. The panel will explore the significance of the collective brand, with representatives from the participating producers. It will be followed by a live show cooking event led by Federico Mariutti, the chef from Osteria Turlonia, who will prepare a dish featuring regional ingredients.

The event is open to the public, though advance registration is required via the fair’s official website. Attendees will still need to purchase an entrance ticket for the fair to gain access to the event.

This year’s “Cucinare” promises not only to be a celebration of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s agricultural and culinary talent but also a powerful showcase of the region’s commitment to sustainability, local craftsmanship, and the shared spirit of innovation within the food industry. With tens of thousands of visitors expected over the nine days of the fair, it offers a unique opportunity for Friuli Venezia Giulia to solidify its position as a key player in Italy’s gastronomic landscape.
